The Smart Wardrobe

Imagine a wardrobe that doesn’t just organize your clothes, but it helps you dress smarter, cuter, and all in a timely manner. Introducing the Smart Wardrobe! This AI powered wardrobe helps you dress not only smart, but cute for any occasion! The boring, traditional wardrobe does nothing but keep your clothes in one place as they hang up waiting to be worn. However, with the Smart Wardrobe, you can do so much more! Smart Wardrobe would be able to sync with your calendar and weather app to help find appropriate outfits for the occasion and weather.

Smart Wardrobe includes fun characteristics such as “Memory mode” that captures outfits worn for special occasions, lazy day modes, pajama switches, surprise outfits, and even a “Clone” setting that finds similar looks for you that are popular from celebrities or even friends! The Smart Wardrobe includes a fun social media aspect to it that can be turned on or off. This helps showcase your outfits, or find inspiration from other users. Clothing details can be uploaded manually or automatically if the garment has a Near Field Communications tag.

On the outside, the wardrobe would look like any other, but would have a touch screen computer on the front that displays the user wearing different outfits as they scroll through to pick out their outfit of the day. On the inside, the wardrobe includes self rotating racks that rotate towards the outfit chosen, undergarment storage, and accessory cabinets! Inside the door, the wardrobe has a body-length mirror that gives lifestyle tips, shopping tips for accessories and outfits that match your style, and even daily affirmations and confidence boosts to make your day brighter! See Figure 1.

The Smart Wardrobe not only helps pick out daily outfits, but it also provides new revenue services for brand owners and stylists. Stylists can work from home on styling users and recommending outfits for their daily activities. Brand owners and companies can create catalogs for users to try their outfits with the “Try On” feature that allows the user to see how items would look and fit on them in real life. Smart Wardrobe provides multiple configurations to support different wardrobe sizes, different garment types, and different dimensions for inclusiveness and accessibility. See Table 1.

When the item is first purchased, you will fill out multiple surveys and connect third-party e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Walmart, SHIEN, Shopify, etc., using secure application program interface keys. This will allow AI to use your shopping history to aid it in understanding your personal preferences. The data collected during this survey includes personal preferences, shopping habits, favorite things, colors, and sense of style. However, the survey also needs very personal information about you such as your address, personal income, your name, age, and even your card information. Though this wardrobe is very beneficial, there are always concerns of personal data leaks due to the surveys. Such as unauthorized access, sensor vulnerabilities and location tracking. Smart Wardrobe relies on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to share data across devices. If any cybercriminal were to gain unauthorized access, they could have access to personal data, manipulate recommendations and could possibly control other devices in the home. Therefore, it is important to maintain up to date encryption and security software. See Figure 2.

To ensure the wardrobe properly safeguards user data, many security measures will be implemented. These safeguards include things like multi-factor identification (using apps such as Microsoft Authenticator or Twilio Authy), unique account recovery procedures, biometric access, and other steps to confirm authorized users can access data. However, as technology continues to advance, this may not be enough. To guarantee further safety of our users, Smart Wardrobe will utilize End-to-End encryption, an option for local data storage or cloud storage, and regular security updates will be put into place. This will help to eliminate potential security breaches by strengthening product security, encrypting transmitted data, and by providing frequent updates on software to mitigate security risks.
